Get A New Attitude for a New Heaven and Earth 1.28.18

Sunday's Message

GET A NEW ATTITUDE FOR A NEW HEAVEN AND EARTH

Part of the joy of taking a vacation is anticipating it. Part of the joy of Christmas is anticipating it.  Part of the joy of summer is anticipating it.  Part of the joy of the new heaven and new earth is anticipating it.  Of course, when the event we’re anticipating arrives we’re often disappointed that it didn’t meet our expectations.  That will not happen with the new heaven and new earth!  In C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia the unicorn sees the new Narnia and says, “This is everything we loved about the old Narnia only better!”  That is what we’ll say when we get to the new heaven and new earth.

So why not enjoy the new heaven and new earth before we even get there?

If you know things are going to work out beautifully in the end, why worry about the journey?

Sunday I’m preaching on “Get a New Attitude for a New Heaven and Earth” from Revelation 21:1-9.  John was in exile on the island of Patmos just off the coast of Turkey when Jesus revealed himself to the Beloved Disciple.  John was told to send the revelation to the seven suffering churches in Asia Minor.  The letter was written in the apocalyptic genre which includes symbols that make the message hard to understand for the readers’ enemies but easy to decipher for the recipients.  Our job today is to understand those symbols and to read the revelation appropriately, then apply them to our lives.  Join us this Sunday as we delve into God’s word and get the right attitude.  The right attitude will change your relationship with God, your family, your church, your job and your community.  Let’s get a new attitude!

With love in Christ,
Dr. Jim Meek
