Our Ministry Team
Welcome to the Ministry Team page!
We are a group that loves Jesus and loves you, too. It is our desire to not only honor Christ through our service to His Church and the world, but to also set the tone for ministry at El Camino. We pray that our lives inspire you to deeper involvement and commitment in serving Jesus here at El Camino.
Bill has been our pastor since January, 2001. A native of Nebraska, he entered the US Air Force after graduating from high school, where he spent 26 years as an air traffic controller. Since answering God's call to ministry he has served in youth ministry and the pastorate in Europe and the U.S. Bill is a graduate of the University of Maryland and Southeastern Baptist Seminary in North Carolina. His wife, Terri, was an international flight attendant for 22 years with World Airways, then a corporate flight attendant with Intel for 8 years. She is now working from home as an executive with an international telecommunications company. They have two sons, one daughter, and three grandchildren. Bill and Terri love traveling, fishing, tennis and golf. In addition to pastoring a great church, Bill has has been serving in our local association of churches and our State Convention as a conciliator.
David came to the west coast over forty years ago to attend California Baptist University. He enlisted in the USAF during the Vietnam conflict and served as a flight crew member on C-130's and C-141's. Returning to California, David completed his undergraduate work at CBU, then graduated from Golden Gate Seminary with his masters degree. He has served churches in Riverside, Modesto, Auburn and Sacramento since 1978. He came to El Camino in early 1997. His wife, Andrea works at Mercy San Juan Hospital as an analyst. David and Andrea have two children and five grandchildren who live in the area. They enjoy travel, reading, movies and are passionate watchers of 24. David is a crazy Sacramento King's fan.
David has also served his denomination in many areas including the executive boards of the California Southern Baptist Convention and Sacramento Association of Southern Baptist Churches. He also was a law enforcement chaplain with Placer County for nine years.
Tricia Johnson was recently voted "Sacramento's Best Children's Minister" by Sacramento Magazine. This may not be quite accurate, but it should be. Tricia is a graduate of Sac State with a B.A. in Child Development. She and her husband, Brian, joined El Camino in 1999. Their two daughters, Mackenzie and Emily, are the most beautiful little girls you'll ever see.
Jon Reyes is our Youth Pastor. He is a graduate of Walnut Wood High School. He is currently completing a bachelor's degree with Trinity Bible College here in Sacramento, and plans on continuing his formal education at Golden Gate Baptist Seminary in Mill Valley. Jon's has a passion for seeing youth come to know Jesus as their Savior and Lord and to integrate that faith into life. Jon's wife Alison is also a student at Trinity and is deeply committed to ministering to women. Jon and Alison have one daughter, Madison.
Sal Fernandez - Hispanic Ministry Pastor Sal Fernandez, CSBC Church Planter Strategist and developer of the Hispanic Ministry at El Camino Baptist Church.
Married to a local Baptist pastor, Debbie is a graduate of California Baptist College, majoring in Religion and Behavioral Science. On campus, she was known for singing and playing the guitar and was part of a singing group who sponsored the college, called "Selah". Enjoying music, she continues to sing on the worship team of her local church. Some of her hobbies include, interior decorating, photography, and water exercise. She is a certified Water Fitness Instructor and teaches at a local 24HR Fitness Club as well as the Roseville Aquatic Center.
Debbie's work experiences and talents has made her a great asset to Elcamino Baptist Church. She puts together a great church newsletter every month called the Trumpet and works hard to keep continuity within the church office. University of Wisconsin researchers recently showed that if Debbie is out sick for more than a day, the rest of the staff becomes clinically insane....
