BLESS GOD FOR HIS GIFT
December 14, 2025
When Senator Tim Scott was growing up, he was dirt poor. His mother worked double shifts to make ends meet. So, in his sophomore year Tim said he was going to get a job to help with the family finances. His mom then prayed that God would lead him to the right job.
A few days later Tim walked to the mall. A friend named Roger saw him there and said, “Hey, is there any chance you’re looking for a job?”
“My mom and I were just talking about that!” Tim replied.
Roger said, “I’ll put in a good word for you at the theater where I work.”
So, Tim got his first job. He loved it! He could watch movies for free. He especially remembered the line from “Gladiator” where the Russel Crowe character shouts to his army before battle, “What we do in this life echoes in eternity.”
Roger’s family was just as poor as Tim’s, but he always had a smile. One day Tim asked, “Why are you always so happy?”
Roger replied, “Because Jesus Christ is alive and he’s the Lord of my life.”
Roger shared with Tim how the gift of Jesus changed his life. It soon changed Tim’s life as well. Both men now live to bless God.
This Christmas remember the reason for the season: to bless God. He’s given us the gift of Christ’s birth, the Holy Spirit, his word, the church, our families and friends, our nation, Christmas lights, the carols and the greetings of good cheer. Use these gifts to thank God and make him happy.
Don’t forget to come to our Live Nativity, 6:30-8:30. Bring family and friends. Your presence will bless us.
