LOVE PRACTICALLY

On January 2, 2023, the Buffalo Bills were playing in Cincinnati against the Bengals. The Bills’ safety, Damar Hamlin, tackled a Bengals receiver who rammed his helmeted head against Damar’s chest. His helmet impacted Damar’s heart exactly as it was in its resting state. This gave Damar a cardiac arrest. He stood, staggered, then fell backward.
Dr. Leslie Bisson rushed onto the field with other medical responders. They were able to minister to Damar within 30 seconds. This saved his life. Dr. Bisson has been preparing a team to meet this need for 15 years.
Although the team discovered that Damar had no pulse, they were able to revive him. Eventually he was miraculously able to play football again. But it was only because God worked through this amazing team which had been dedicated to loving others in practical ways.
Sunday I’m preaching on “Love Practically” from 1 Peter 4:7-11. We’ll look at “Pray Wisely,” verse 7; “Love Passionately,” verses 8-9; and “Serve with Your Gifts,” verses 10-11. Please come and learn with us to love in practical ways. Your presence is of eternal importance!
This Saturday at 1:00 we have our Nostalgic Swing Concert.
Sunday at 1:30 we have a Business Meeting. Among other things we’ll be voting on a budget and on accepting Al Thiel as a deacon. Please be in prayer about this important meeting.
