MAKE IT ALL ABOUT GOD

October 26, 2025

Francis Collins was an atheist when he was getting his PHD in chemistry.  However, when he worked in medicine at the University of North Carolina he noticed that the Christian patients had immense peace amidst their suffering.  A patient asked him, “What do you believe in?”  He realized with embarrassment that as a scientist he had not pursued the most important question of all, “Is there a God?”  After intense study, he came to the conclusion that there is a God, and he gave his life to him.

He realized the eloquence of the DNA in each human cell.  He also realized that man had been given a sense of justice and awe.  These and other things could only be explained by an Intelligent Creator.  The study of Scripture convinced him that God had sent his son to save a fallen world.

Collins went on to head the Human Genome Project, finding cures for diseases.  He also taught at Yale and the University of Michigan.

Collins learned that life should be all about God, so he dedicated himself to bringing people to him. He wrote the brilliant book, The Language of God.

Sunday I’m preaching on “Make It All about God,” Romans 1:18-25.  We’ll look at “Understand God’s Nature,” verses 18-20; and “Bless God,” verses 21-25.  Paul believed that nature and conscience teach people about God.  Come Sunday and help us explore these factors.

Also, don’t forget our Trunk and Treat Saturday, 5:30 to 7:30.  It’s a kind of harvest festival to help us celebrate with the neighborhood the God of creation.

Love,

Jim Meek
