MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Last Saturday, late in the afternoon, I went to CVS to buy a variety of items. There were about five people working in the pharmacy section, but only one young lady working the floor. She had to open cabinets to fetch items that people needed behind plexiglass panels. She was also the cashier. A long line was forming at the counter, but she helped me get items from locked shelves in opposite ends of the store. She asked me very sweetly, “Do you need anything else?”
“No,” I said, then later remembered that I did need something else, from the very cabinet she had earlier opened for me! But there was no way I was going to say anything, because she needed to wait on the customers who were ready to pay.
Eventually, I paid for my items and left thinking what a wonderful lady the clerk was. She had so much to do, and everyone was watching her as she worked. But she showed no sign of exasperation or frustration. She was a shining light in dark times. In a world where everything in stores has to be locked up, she was an open book of calmness and love. She made a difference in my harried day.
Sunday I’m preaching on “Make a Difference” from Matthew 5:13-20. We’ll talk about “Provide Taste and Preservation,” verse 13; “Shine to Glorify God,” verses 14-16; and “Fulfill God’s Word,” verses 17-20. This is from the great Sermon on the Mount. Please come and learn with us how to make a difference through the power of the Holy Spirit. Learn to shine like this girl did on a Saturday afternoon.

We need help with our Wednesday Night Meals for Spring/Summer 2024. By volunteering for at least one
Wednesday night, we can insure no one is doing all the work. It will help if you could put together and lead a team one or more times.
This entails shopping (the church will pay the bill), preparing a meal for about 70 children and adults, and clean up. Betty Allen will meet with you and help you understand the commitment. If you can help, click here to find the dates we need help or use the QR code below.
