I lived at home while attending college. One day the chaplain at a nearby hospital asked my mom if a young man could stay in our home while his wife was getting medical care. She said, “Sure!” The man stayed for a few days. On the last day I thought, “I should share Christ with this guy.” Then I started inventing all kinds of excuses as to why I shouldn’t, but each time I realized that the excuses were ridiculous. I thought, “If I can’t share Christ with a person to whom we’ve given free room and board, with whom can I share Christ?”
So, I sat down with him at our dining room table and told him that I had something important to share. He said, “Okay.” Then I said, “The Bible teaches we’re all sinners and it leads to death, but that Jesus died in our place. Then he was raised from the dead. He will come in to our hearts if we invite him in to be our Lord and Savior. Would you like to do that?” He said that he would like that. So, I led him in a prayer to receive Christ.
I was elated. I would go on to witness countless times, but this time was special, because it was the first time I had led someone in a prayer to receive Christ.
Sunday I’m preaching on “Share Appropriately” from 1 Corinthians 9:19-27. We’ll look at “Be Free to Enslave Yourself to Others,” verses 19-22; and “Be Disciplined,” verses 23-27. We’ll study Paul’s strategy for sharing Christ. We’ll learn how to share according to who we are, who the person is with whom we’re sharing, and what the situation is. Please join us.
Also, join us Saturday at 10:00 as we learn to share our faith appropriately and then go out door-to-door to invite people to our Good Friday Service and Easter events.
